Explore the Trails
Local Area< Otahuna Downs | Port Hills >
At the less ambitious end is the Otahuna/Rhodes Road Loop, a country road meander with horse tie-up facilities at both The Raspberry Café and Drewery's Wine Shed - two locally acclaimed 'grazing' opportunities frequented by locals and visitors - One hour.
The Forest Track along Target Hill
We take a gentle elevated trail along Target Hill behind Otahuna Lodge. This gives us quick elevation and marvellous views straight away. This trail winds through a pine forest and meets up with the Port Hills Trail to return down Bindies Trail - one hour or carry on around sugar Loaf and return via Otahuna Valley - two hours.
Lead Rides along the Creek in Otahuna Valley
We often take young children and Japanese students on lead rides. For this we take a lovely half hour trail up into the Otahuna Valley following the creek to the first creek crossing, and return. We see sheep and cattle, pheasants and the beginning of the native forest.
